The village of Zingst on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula is located in one of the most beautiful regions in Germany: the "Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park", the third largest national park in Germany with an area of 786 km². The so-called wind tidal flats are a special feature. Here there are no tide-dependent changes in the water level, but only the wind determines what happens. The cranes arriving in autumn are a symbol of the Bodden landscape. Together with other migratory birds, they dominate the landscape at this time of year and offer nature lovers an unrivalled natural spectacle. The municipality of Zingst covers the entire eastern part of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula and also includes the two islands of Kirr and Oie. Zingst" is 20 kilometres wide and lies directly on the Baltic Sea, offering visitors one of the most beautiful beaches in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The unique surroundings nestled between the Bodden and the Baltic Sea offer a variety of opportunities to experience and discover nature. Zingst is dyked all around and there is a cycle path (11.2 km). The entire Darß is equipped with cycle paths, once through the forest or along the Bodden coast.
