This is how holiday rental owners described Bagni di Lucca
Guzzano (our hamlet) is a tiny little village perched on a hill around Bagni di Lucca. At the beginning of the XX century a lot of its inhabitants sought their fortune abroad. Most of their grandchildren still live outside Italy but come back here for holidays once in a while.

show more Some English tourists bought a house in our village, following up a long tradition which dates back to the XIX century, when English poets or artists like the Brownings were literally enraptured with our surroundings.
Closest family run grocery store is at 2 km from us. They sell fresh bread and delicious "schiacciata" (flat bread) every day. Chez our neighbor farmers you can purchase eggs and seasonal vegetables (such as tomatoes, salad...).
Bagni di Lucca (at 5 km from our village), is a nice tourist resort, where you will find general stores, shops and sport centers (public swimming pool, tennis courts, chemist, supermarkets, etc.) and a beautiful spa, beloved destination of artists like Byron, Shelley, Puccini, Metternich and Radestsky. Traces of this glorious past are to be found in its monuments: the English Church, the Catene bridge, the Spa, the villas, the Casino (the first gambling house to be opened in Europe and nowadays a wonderful location for wedding receptions). The town provides some very good restaurants, where you can taste our traditional cuisine.
Enjoy beautiful walks, bicycle or horse rides on the hills around our properties, full of churches and Roman parishes. Nearby, Borgo a Mozzano and the Maddalena bridge, better known as the Devil’s bridge, the little canyon Orrido di Botri, the Garfagnana villages, Barga with its typical historical centre, Coreglia Antelminelli and its Museum of Plaster Figures and Emigration are just a few of the places worth a visit. Our neighbour horse ranch offers horse rides in the area.
